The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, has charged youths across the country to maintain good ethical conduct and behaviour by shunning internet fraud and corruption for their better and brighter future.
The EFCC boss made the call while addressing students of Foud’ad Labadidi Islamic Academy, who paid an educational visit to the Abuja headquarters of the Commission.
Addressing the students, Olukoyede who spoke through the Deputy Director, Public Affairs Department and Head of EFCC Radio (97.3 FM), DCE Nwanyinma Okeanu, said; “I see people here who are going to be leaders of tomorrow and if you are going to do that, you have to keep your hands clean, learn not to indulge in pilfering, lies, avoid examination malpractices and other bad habits, because what you learn and put in your mind stays there and forms your character”.
He urged them to aspire for greatness in all their endeavours and try not to expose themselves to activities inimical to their development and prosperity.
He stressed that youths are the great leaders of tomorrow, adding that they are the major stakeholders in the anti-corruption fight. He also said the Commission was working to make sure that the nation’s educational sector flourished and remained untouched by the monster of corruption.
Head, Enlightenment and Reorientation Unit of the Commission, ACE II Aisha Mohammed, educated the students on the role of the Unit and its enlightenment activities.
She described students and youths as foot soldiers of the EFCC and charged them to be part of the anti-corruption fight, stressing that “there is need for everyone, especially the young ones, to join in the fight”.
Also, the Head, Public Interface Unit, ACE 1 Tony Orilade, lectured the students on “Avoiding the Temptation of Internet Fraud” while Assistant Superintendent of the EFCC 1, Olalekan Ogunjobi, educated the students on “Cybercrime and Cyber-security”.
