The Maiduguri Zonal Director of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Commander of the EFCC, CE Aisha A. T Habib has called for enhanced sharing of intelligence and referral of cases to the Commission in order to help  sanitise the nation’s financial space and get rid of economic and financial crimes.

She made the call on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 in Maiduguri,  Borno State while receiving the Chairman of Civil Liberty Organisation, CLO,  Maiduguri Branch and his Executives who paid her a Courtesy visit.

According to Habib, “The Civil Liberty Organization is a strong stakeholder of the Commission. We are aware of the immense contributions your organisation is rendering to the Commission, ranging from information sharing, reporting of cases and participation in Anti-Corruption Road Walks, amongst others,  therefore, we urge you to do more.”

She specifically  stated that CLO needed to share more information on the activities of terrorists and terrorism financing in Borno State and the North-East in general with the EFCC.  “The insurgency in the land needs to be tackled and such can only be done if all stakeholders put their heads together and share information that can assist in curtailing the activities of the insurgents”, she said.

In his opening remark, CLO’s  Executive Chairman,  Comrade Dahiru Hassan assured the Commission of a more robust cooperation and synergy, promising to protect human rights and share more information with the Commission.

According to him , "one serious issue needing the intervention of the EFCC and which is affecting the general public is employment and job racketeering in the State; we have received some complaints by the public and we will transfer those cases to the Commission for proper investigation and possible prosecution; because we don’t have the mandate to do such”.

Hassan commended the Director's leadership style and urged her to continue in the same direction, “as the EFCC is doing wonders for the general public directly or indirectly.  We would like to appreciate the Maiduguri Zonal Director and her team for a job well done in the State.”
