In a determined effort at improving its capacity to fight corruption and economic crimes, the Economics Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has commenced the training of the first batch of junior cadet officers. The 71 officers of the Detective Assistant Cadre 1 commenced their training on January 7, 2013 at the EFCC Academy , Karu Abuja.

The batch, comprising 59 male and 12 female officers are expected to spend 24 weeks at the Academy.

Welcoming the trainees on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, the Commandant of the Academy, Ayo Olowonihi re-instated the need for discipline, while assuring them of their welfare and safety.

He warns that the Academy would not hesitate in sending away any Cadet found wanting on the grounds of insubordination or issues to do with their identity and documentation.
