EFCC, NAF To Enhance Collaboration

The Nigerian Airforce, 015 Strategic Intelligence Group, Lagos has sought greater collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in tackling the menace of economic and financial crimes through intelligence sharing.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC on Monday, September 18, 2023, the Commander, Air Commodore U.S. Umar, said the purpose of the visit was to foster collaboration as well the need for effective synergy between the EFCC and the NAF.

“All the capabilities we need are inherent in our nation. But there is this seemingly struggle for domination that leads us to nowhere.

“Everybody, like every agency, has what is unique to it.”

Umar, who acknowledged the EFCC as one of the key security agencies in Nigeria, further stated that “ If you must operate successfully, you must identify the key stakeholders.

“The EFCC is a big player you need to work with if you must succeed.

“There are two denominators of crime: money and arms. For you to know how money is moving, you need a partner in the EFCC”.

Responding, the Lagos Zonal Commander of the EFCC, Michael T. Wetkas, commended the NAF for the services it is rendering to Nigeria.

Wetkas expressed readiness to support Umar, both officially and unofficially, to ensure that his stay is successful.
